The Devil's Own
A
corrupt New York judge places a wanted IRA Terrorist in the home of
an Irish Cop played by Harrison Ford. The devil here is packaged in
the person of Brad Pitt. The two bond but there can be no happy
endings in this Irish Story.
Iron Eagle
This
movie was made in 1985 and nothing dates it more surely than the fact
that it is hip to the fashions of its time. The popular music played
on a Walkman certainly but in this age of low-rise jeans that barely
cover the hips jeans with waistlines that nearly cover the navel look
startlingly out of style. I'm not up on present-day high school lingo
but I'm sure the air force brats in this show are 3 decades out of
date. The planes and their armaments are dated as well as is the
technology that surrounds them.
I
like Jason Gedrick who was twenty when this movie was made. Although
in common with so many other Hollywood actors he is divorced he
managed to survive the move from teenage to adult roles and his life
does not seem to have become fodder for the gossip mills.
Louis
Gossett Jr. plays his part as Doug Master's mentor with relish. The
whole is somewhat jingoistic and unless one enters into the spirit of
the thing rather far-fetched. For an equally edge of your seat air
force experience watch Into The Sun. Both movies inspired by the
success of Top Gun.
