Rescue Special Ops

This is the third Aussie TV Series made available to Amazon Prime Subscribers. The first two were Sea Patrol and Water Rats.

Coast Guard and Police procedural. These first two were light on Aussie allusions. Water Rats made prominent use of the iconic Sydney Opera House as a backdrop and as the name suggests tooled around on a high speed twin hulled catamaran named the Nemesis the dive boat is the Harpy. The fastest way to get anywhere is by water. Extensive use of scuba diving. Gun play and police pursuits on foot and by car are frequent. They referred to street patrol cops as Dogs.

Rescue Special Ops is an animal of an entirely different colour beginning with its punk rock theme music:

They drive around in fancy decked out SUV's. Since they regularly repel down tall buildings and cliff faces the actors all have stunt doubles. This mob is not armed save with syringes but they do engage in chases. They compete with fire rescue they term fieries for assignments. Interpersonal relationships and their personal lives figure in the scrips. The accents and language is heavily outback.

The brothers Gallagher seem to give a nod to band Oasis.

As the series progresses politics comes into play as the minister looks toward a private company called Lifeblood to take over the operation.

In the waning episodes a third middle Gallagher Brother is added, a tall intimidating former special ops soldier. The series comes to a grinding conclusion.
